Meet Lynn Massingale, co-founder of TeamHealth in 1979. With extensive experience, he serves as the executive chairman and plays a key role in providing outsourced physician staffing solutions for hospitals across the U.S.
Since co-founding the predecessor of TeamHealth in 1979, Lynn Massingale served as the chairman and CEO until 2008 when he undertook the role of executive chairman and continued in that role until 2017 when he assumed his current role.
As one of the largest providers of outsourced physician staffing solutions for hospitals in the United States, TeamHealth is affiliated with more than 16,000 healthcare professionals who provide emergency medicine, anesthesia, hospital medicine, urgent care, and pediatric staffing and management services to more than 27.9 million patients in approximately 3,000 civilian and military hospitals, clinics, and physician groups in 48 states. TeamHealth was recognized by Forbes magazine in 2014 as one of “America’s Most Trustworthy” Companies; by Fortune Magazine in 2015, 2016 and 2017 as one of the “World’s Most Admired Companies”; and in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare.”
Dr. Massingale obtained his bachelor’s degree at Tennessee Wesleyan College and earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis. He has been certified by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners, the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
